The same report says that the police are still investigating the incident and the Roma have offered to assist the player.
Smalling, who moved permanently to the Italian club from Manchester United last year, was not involved in Roma’s Europa League game against Ajax on Thursday night at the Stadio Olimpico due to a knee injury.
The defender has been playing in Rome since the summer of 2019 and signs a first loan deal before making a permanent move 12 months later.

Smalling has spoken positively of his wife’s support for moving to Rome despite the fact that the 35-year-old model had to leave her hometown for her husband’s career.
The England defender told The Athletic in October 2019: “My wife has always supported me. She said: “If you want to move, we will all move. We will do what is best for your football.” I knew she would say what I really appreciated.

‘So I moved. I lived in a hotel for a month and we moved into a lovely house last week. It’s 700 years old, just outside of Rome. There is a lot of green around it, which is important for our dogs. Everyone is here now and that feels good. ‘
The reported incident is the latest in a series of cases where intruders targeted the homes of footballers, managers and other Serie A sports personalities over the past year.

According to Sky Sports Italia, those responsible managed to take away some football boots, designer clothes and other valuable items.
