While it is rare for NBC to pick hosts from the tech or business world, this is not the first time it has been done. It invited former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and former President Donald Trump before he became president.
After NBC made the announcement, Musk tweeted, “Let’s find out what live Saturday Night Live really is like.”
In an Instagram story, actor Bowen Yang wrote, “What the hell does that even mean?” as a caption to Musk’s tweet.
Another actor, Andrew Dismuke, wrote on Instagram via a photo of former SNL actor Cheri Oteri that the only CEO he wanted to sketch with was “Cher-E Oteri”.
