Jack Vidgen sets the record on rumors he is trans after dressing in drag for a night and being inundated with “hundreds” of messages
I’m a celebrity … get me out of here! Star Jack Vidgen has confirmed he is not a transsexual after rumors swirled that he was living as a woman.
The openly gay singer, 24, made his gender identity clear in an Instagram post on Saturday and made it clear that he is male and is based on his pronouns.
He decided to speak out after dressing up in drag for an evening with Abbie Chatfield, a Sydney celebrity co-star.
Several fans wondered if Jack, who became famous in 2011 as a teenager on Got Talent in Australia, was trans because of his ultra-feminine look.
He had celebrated in a gold miniskirt and a matching bustier, which he combined with a necklace, bracelets and a long blonde wig.
After returning home from his night and undressing and doing his makeup, Jack found that he had been inundated with hundreds of questions about his gender.
He wrote on Instagram Stories: “Anddd, I’m a boy again. Thank you for your lovely messages and comments. Tonight was so much fun.
“I’ve had hundreds of messages asking if I’m trans. It’s not me – I just dressed up with friends for fun to spend an evening.
“Being trans is a nice thing and I love people asking questions. My pronunciations are he / he. Much love b *** h x. ‘
Jack announced I was gay earlier this year when he saw his first Sydney Carnival parade when he was 14.
“My first Carnival experience – I lived on the corner of Oxford Street and Hyde Park and our balcony has a view of all of Oxford Street,” he said.
“So 14, 15 years old that I watched the parade with my mother, only in my mind:” Am I gay? “That was long before I came out. ‘
Jack had a girlfriend until he was 19 – before he came out – and said that everyone in his life was supportive when he told them about his sexuality.
“I had a really nice experience, everyone in my life was so relaxed about it,” he revealed.
“It wasn’t a big deal, it was so cold. So many people don’t have a good experience and that’s super sad for me. But I had a really blessed time getting out. ‘
Jack won the fifth season of Got Talent in Australia in 2011 when he was 14 years old.
He released two albums, Yes I Am and Inspire, with Sony Music Australia before separating from the label and leaving the music industry for a few years.
Jack made a spectacular comeback on The Voice in 2019 and is now recording new music and playing shows.
