Alisson came into West Brom’s penalty area in the fifth minute of stoppage time and headed a Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner past his opponent Sam Johnstone, who remained stationary on the goal line.
“I (wish) he was here to see it, but I’m sure he sees and celebrates with God on his side. It’s for my family, for the boys … I can’t be happier than now . ”
Speaking of the target itself, Alisson added, “I saw (the cross) coming. I was just trying to run in a good place, be in a good position, and try to help me.” Players who bring a defender (out) but no one I think will follow me. I was lucky and blessed to score.
“You can’t explain things like that. You can’t explain many things in life. For me the only reason for such things is God and He put his hand on my head today.”
West Brom, who will be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, took the lead in Sunday’s game with Hal Robson-Kanu’s goal, but Liverpool leveled later in the first half when Mohamed Salah shot off the edge the region – his 22nd in the league this season.
But Alisson’s winner ultimately gave Liverpool the win and the three points, putting the Reds one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Alisson is the sixth goalkeeper in the Premier League, along with Peter Schmeichel, Brad Friedel, Paul Robinson, Tim Howard and Asmir Begović.
Schmeichel and Friedel both scored goals from the corners, while Robinson, Howard and Begović all scored from long range attempts.
