Invite Apple’s Spring Loaded Event.
Apple just announced an April 20th product event that is expected to announce new versions of the iPad Pro, AirTags tracking devices, and more. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Apple could use the event to continue the boost iPads experienced during the pandemic. In January, Apple reported iPad sales of $ 8.44 billion for the first quarter of its fiscal year, up 41% year over year. The new iPad pros are expected to feature Apple’s latest and fastest processor and may include a new type of screen that uses mini-LED technology to provide better images for movies and photos.
Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, it is a digital event which means it will be streamed online rather than being held in person. Last year, Apple updated the iPad Pro in March when it also introduced the Magic Keyboard, which makes it feel more like a laptop. In March 2019, the second generation AirPods were announced, so they may also be updated.
It has long been rumored that Apple is launching AirTags, a product similar to Tile that you attach to items like keys or put in a pocket and track using Apple’s Find My software built into iPads and iPhones. Apple tested a way to track these devices in its beta software for iPhones.
However, Apple could use the event to showcase any number of new products. Other devices that may be upgraded are iMacs that have not been upgraded to the new M1 processor.
Apple’s AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world. It makes sense to update them to keep the momentum going as competitors launch similar products, often at lower prices. However, leading Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in March that new AirPods may not be released until the third quarter of this year.
And finally, the Apple TV is long overdue for an update. The current model Apple TV 4K was released in 2017, but even that was a small update to the version released in 2015. Bloomberg said in December that Apple was planning an update with a new remote control, an updated processor and a “gaming focus.”
