Why are Airbnb users drawn to Saint Clears?
It could be that the market town’s idyllic rural location and hiking opportunities prove to be strong bait for lockdown-weary Britons.
The historic town sits on the River Taf on a section of the Wales Coast Path that, according to Discovercarmarthenshire.com, takes you on a journey back in time when Normans and Welsh fought fiercely to hold the strategic points around Carmarthen Bay to control its passage up the rivers into the heartland of Wales.
It adds, “Under every stone is a story, in every church there is a story.”
The site recommends a 12 km walk from town to Llansteffan on a trail that runs through the Pembrey Forest and “peaceful National Trust farmland at Wharley Point”. Cherries on the cake.
Amanda Cupples, General Manager Northern Europe at Airbnb says: ‘As national lockdowns are gradually easing, Airbnb’s local hosts are ready to reopen their doors to safe, clean for those looking to explore beyond their own four walls and private stays to offer more.
‘Our trending destinations show that travel is likely to be a little different this year. Many use a summer near their home to explore lesser-known rural destinations in addition to their popular favorites.
“With local communities in need of support more than ever, everyday Brits are doing their part, hosting Airbnb and turning their homes into engines of boosting the economy for recreation.”
