“It can affect your heart rate, cause arrhythmias, and it can be bad for the heart to knock down espresso shots.”
Dr. Frederick Davis, vice chairman of emergency medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, agrees.
He said coffee is good in moderation, but too much of anything is bad for the body.
“You have to be careful about how much caffeine you are consuming or it can cause palpitations, especially if people have underlying medical conditions,” he told DailyMail.com.
“It can also be dehydrating because coffee is a diuretic, so you have to urinate more and you may lose a lot of fluids in the process.”
The other ingredient, protein, helps people feel full longer because the body burns more calories while digesting.
Dr. Davis says the ingredients in the Protein Power or Shake can make Proffee Mode harmful.
“Unfortunately, protein with added sugar or artificial flavors or sweeteners can drive up sugar and carbohydrate levels,” he said.
In addition, there is such a thing as too much protein that can lead to intestinal upset and indigestion.
